LUBRICANTS

Sort By

A woman’s vagina naturally gets lubricated during sexual arousal, making it wetter and better prepared for sex. However, a little outside help is always welcome. A lubricant can enhance the sexual experience because it reduces friction and minimizes the possibility of irritation, pain or discomfort. Still, women can experience vaginal dryness due to various reasons, such as drops in estrogen levels (usually occurring during menopause), when a woman is breastfeeding, or lack of adequate sexual arousal, to name a few. There are also cases when their bodies just do not provide enough lubrication naturally.

Water-based lubricants

They are quite economical and very easy to find in your nearest apothecary or drogerie. The upside of any water-based lubricant is that it washes off easily. The downside, however, is that it probably won’t last as long as couples might hope for, which will require reapplying more during intercourse to maintain wetness.

Silicone-based lubricants

Compared to water-based lubricants, silicone-based products last longer. The downside is that they do not rinse as easily and can cause irritation if they aren’t washed away shortly after sex. Both water- and silicone-based lubricants typically contain glycerin, a component known to cause yeast infections and inflammation. However, glycerin-free lubricant products are available on the market to tackle the potential issue.

Oil-based lubricants

Use caution when using this type of lubricant. Even though they work like a charm, they are known to weaken the latex of condoms, which can rupture it and increase the risk of unwanted pregnancy or transmitting STI.

Petroleum-based lubricants

Made from petroleum jelly, baby oil or mineral oil, this type of lubricant is known cause irritation or inflammation for some women.

Feel free to try out different types in order to see what works best for you. If a particular lubricant causes irritation or an allergic reaction, switch to another kind. A doctor or sex therapist can also provide guidance if necessary. Shop best lubricants in India at Lovetreats to spice up your sexual experience and keep things sailing smoothly.
